The term ‘Lesser Known Species’ and its related variants such as ‘Lesser Utilised Species’, and ‘Under Utilised Species’ have been around for as far as we can remember. But if you ask anybody as to what constitute these so-called Lesser Known Species, you will have a different answer every time. This is because everybody has his own interpretation of what is a Lesser Known Species.

Timber with its natural features gives a sense of elegance and warmth that makes it an ideal material for exposed structures. In this talk, Yasotha will share her experience in timber structural engineering design: discussing timber as a structural material, structurally expressed buildings and collaborating with architects and builders in delivering timber architecture.

Yasotha Chetty is a structural engineer who is passionate about creative engineering solutions and architecture. She seeks to create a collaborative work environment to develop integrated and innovative design solutions. Currently a Technical Director with AECOM in Kuala Lumpur, Yasotha has been involved in the structural design of several timber structures during her time in United Kingdom.
