Glulam, or Glu-lamination in full, is the process or the products of such a process involving the gluing of pieces of timber into a larger dimensioned piece. Although the definition sounds simple, the resultant products can be spectacular in appearance and form. Glulam has been extensively used in many countries as components of buildings, especially when long spans are called for.

Timber with its natural features gives a sense of elegance and warmth that makes it an ideal material for exposed structures. In this talk, Yasotha will share her experience in timber structural engineering design: discussing timber as a structural material, structurally expressed buildings and collaborating with architects and builders in delivering timber architecture.

Yasotha Chetty is a structural engineer who is passionate about creative engineering solutions and architecture. She seeks to create a collaborative work environment to develop integrated and innovative design solutions. Currently a Technical Director with AECOM in Kuala Lumpur, Yasotha has been involved in the structural design of several timber structures during her time in United Kingdom.
