An International Conference on Market Requirements for Timber and Timber Products was organised by the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC), EFI’s EU FLEGT Asia Regional Funding (FLEGT Asia), the European Timber Trade Federation (ETTF), together with support from The Forest Trust, TTAP project. The conference, which took place on the 3rd of October 2012, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was held in conjunction with the MTC Global Woodmart (MGW) 2012. With over 230 international and local participants from over 20 countries, the event provided timber trade federations, private sector, government and NGOs from around the world with the latest updates on specific market requirements in the US, the EU and Australia for legal timber.

This highly imperative half day event was a success with a compact program line-up (Conference Programme download here), covering almost every parts of the world in less than five hours. Speakers and industry representatives from various countries such as China, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, Europe, US, Brazil, Australia and Malaysia, were present to share information and their perspectives on the impacts of the changing market requirements have on their industry.
