Datuk Peter Chin Appointed Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities

Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui has been appointed as the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities effective 27 March 2004. Datuk Peter Chin, 59, was called to the Bar at Gray's Inns, London in 1971. Married with three children, he started off his career in the legal profession from 1972 to 1984, before assuming his tenure as the Chairman of Miri's Municipal Council from 1984 to 1987.

The Sarawak-born Minister commenced his political career in 1986 and among the positions he has held included being the Member of Parliament for Miri in Sarawak (1986-present), Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Social Welfare (1986-1990), Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment (1990- 1995), and Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government (1995-1999).
