New Secretary-General for Ministry of Plantation Industries and CommoditiesDR. MICHAEL DOSIM LUNJEW has been appointed the new Secretary-General of the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities effective 16 February 2005. He succeeds Tan Sri Dr. Abdullah Mohd.Tahir who retired on 10 February 2005. Dr. Michael, 54, holds a doctorate degree in Human Resource Management from University Pertanian Malaysia (now Universiti Putra Malaysia). He graduated from University of Malaya in 1975 with a degree in Economics and later obtained a master's degree in Business Administration from University of Toledo, Ohio, USA in 1984. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Michael was the Ministry's Deputy Secretary-General (Commodity) since August 2004. He began his career in the government service as an assistant director (International Trade) at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry in 1975. Conferred the A.M.N award in 1997 (an Order of Chivalry Award conferred by Malaysia's King), Dr. Michael held several positions during his service including being a Board Member of the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board, Pepper Marketing Board of Malaysia, Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Board as well as the Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council. The Ministry also saw two key appointments, with Ms Fatimah Raya Nasron and Mr. Mohd. Zain Omar having been appointed as the Deputy Secretary-General I and Deputy Secretary-General II, respectively, effective 16 February 2005. Prior to the appointments, Ms Fatimah Raya was the Deputy Secretary-General II while Mr. Mohd. Zain was the Under Secretary, Development of Oils and Fats Industries Division.
