The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC)
was established in January 1992 to promote the development of the
timber-based industry in Malaysia and the marketing of timber products.
Formed on the initiative of the timber industry and incorporated under the Companies Act 1965 as a company limited by guarantee, MTC is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities. Our VisionTo be the lead organisation in
developing the Malaysian timber industry into a world leader in the manufacture
and trade of timber products Our MissionTo ensure the sustainability of the Malaysian timber industry by improving its competitiveness, enhancing market access and creating trade opportunities
Our ObjectivesTo promote the timber trade and develop the market for timber productsTo promote the development of the
timber industry through the provision of training facilities, technical services
and other activities
Board of TrusteesThe Chairman and Board of Trustees determine the policy directions and oversee the management of the Malaysian Timber Council. There are 10 members consisting of a representative each from the five founding members of the Council, namely
The other members comprise representatives from the Ministry of Plantation Industries & Commodities (MPIC), the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB), Forestry Department Peninsular Malaysia (FDPM), Association of Malaysian Bumiputra Timber and Furniture Entrepreneurs (PEKA), and an independent member from the timber industry.
